In Nebraska there’s a University of Nebraska Cornhusker fan who has a great hobby. His name is Paul “Jake” Jacobson and he runs a website called Historical Husker Media. Jake recreates University of Nebraska football games from old silent game footage shot for the coaches and the recordings of old local radio broadcasts of the games.

What impressed me even more than this great fusing of old media, was how he uses on-screen graphics, pictures of players, name keys, scores, game clocks, instant replays and other visual cues taken from television broadcasts of the games to fill in the gaps where there’s no footage matching the commentary. I love this.

This is from the 1960 Nebraska vs Oklahoma game and there’s others at his site.
