Home movie from the 1959 Giant Fairyland Balloon Parade in Pasadena, California.  The Long Beach Jr. Concert Band Majorettes and Drill Team lead off the film. Next up is an Uncle Remus float. Yeah. You read that right. Then there’s lots of great giant balloon characters, including a turkey, vikings, Robin Hood, a giant blue sperm and what may be the tallest racist caricature Chinese stereotype you’re liable to see today. Oh, and according to the local newspaper’s listing of the parade line up the name of this balloon was “Coolie”.
